🚀 Microsoft's AI-powered Copilot set to revolutionize the way we work with technology

Microsoft has developed a new AI-powered system called Copilot that can summarise and instantaneously provide questions in meetings. The technology appears in Office apps as an AI chatbot on the sidebar but is much more than that. It can also command Office apps like Excel and PowerPoint, generate drafts for emails, and help generate documents. Microsoft has customised the Copilot system for every Office app, so there are different ways to command it. Copilot can also teach Office features and help users improve their Office knowledge. However, as with all AI systems, there are risks of racial and gender bias, inaccuracies and data concerns. Microsoft is mitigating these risks and starting with a small rollout to 20 businesses.

🚀 Midjourney's New AI Image-Synthesis Service Produces 'Creepy' Photorealistic Images in Alpha Test

Midjourney has released version 5 of its commercial AI image-synthesis service, which has impressed users with its ability to produce photorealistic images at an unprecedented quality level. Some AI art enthusiasts have even called the results "too perfect" and "creepy." The new version is currently available as an alpha test for Midjourney subscribers through Discord.

Graphic designer Julie Wieland shared her experiences with Midjourney v5 and described it as being similar to getting glasses after ignoring bad eyesight for too long. She noted that the new version offers improvements in skin textures, facial features, lighting, reflections, shadows, angles, and eyes. Wieland also mentioned that Midjourney v5 can generate realistic human hands, which has been a challenge for many AI art generators.

Midjourney's v5 works by generating images based on text descriptions called "prompts" using an AI model trained on millions of human-made art pieces. The service was recently at the center of a copyright controversy involving a comic book that used earlier versions of the tool.

According to Midjourney's release notes on Discord, v5 responds with a much wider stylistic range than version 4, generates less unwanted text, and offers a 2x increase in image resolution. However, some users have noted that the precision of the model takes away some of the thrill of repeatedly generating AI imagery to find a suitable result.

Overall, Midjourney v5 represents a significant advancement in the field of AI art generation, and its ability to produce photorealistic images is likely to have far-reaching implications for the art and design industries.
